Effortless action. Wu Wei.
The state where you begin to flow like a river, overcoming all obstacles with a calm determination.
Oftentimes, we feel this need to summon incredible amounts of power to take obstacles head on. Charging into something with everything we’ve got.
As if smashing our problems will make them go away, and to be fair, simple problems do.
We’ve been taught by watching shows, observing people, friends and parents and by our schooling to do this. Naturally it sinks in and takes root.
Issue with money, spend more time making it. Issue with the car, take it to the garage (get ripped off). Issue with the family, argue to prove a point.
Insert what you do here.
As mentioned, it works, but for how long? How long can you keep trading your time for a little more money? Your money for that dodgy car? Your families well-being for your ego?
The brute force way, trades one thing for another, and when relied upon will drain your resources.
So I propose an alternative method. Take things a little slower and more methodical.
When you think you’re done with smashing up problems, the mountain arrives. You can smash yourself a little cave to lie in after everything has been taken from you.
Or, you can go around it, climb over it and even move it towards your goal.
There are many roads that lead to Roma, so to speak.
Effortless action is finding the path that you can maintain. You aren’t sprinting up it nor are you commando crawling. You take every day as it comes, solving more of it as you go.
Likewise with a river.
There may be turns and bends that the river has followed for millennia. But if it senses an easier path, it will make one by sheer power and consistency.
Every single day, a little more earth is being eroded until it hits a breaking point. More water is funnelled into the new path breaking extra away. This process is exponential until it makes the path and the old one starts to silt up.
Your effort is like water. Keep it flowing.
Instead of being a tsunami and taking away what’s ON the earth. Be the river and take away the earth itself, little by little, every single day.
This is effortless action, and you’ll find that one day you beat the mountain and in search, will you be for the next one.
And as God is good, He will show you the mountain range on the other side.
And it will be beautiful. You’ll be ready for the real thing.
Feel into Wu Wei, find your edge and effortlessly stay on it day after day.
No mountain will be able to stand still before you.
